Blonde for summer!
Summer is fast approaching and that can only mean one thing, it’s time for a blonde glow-up! Why do we always gravitate to blonde hair in the summer? I guess for many reasons. We mimic the weather and want to feel and look brighter in the summer months or we are soaking up the vitamin D and feeling happier, so want to try something more bold and daring.
We all have our individual reasons as to why we do this but here’s a few tips from the ELK team on how to maintain your blonde hair in the summer months….
- Conditioning is a must! The brighter we go, the more impact this will have on the hair’s condition. Up your hair care routine and add a twice-weekly moisturizing mask treatments for intense nourishment.
- Protection – Direct sun can not only make hair feel dry after excessive exposure, it can also fade your hair colour. Be sure to use leave-in moisture balms and serum oils when blow-drying, for a layer of protection from the sun.
- 4-6 weekly toner top-ups. When the sun’s causing our hair to dry, this can lead to over use of heat styling to make our hair look and feel healthier. Excessive heat can cause colors to fade and expose the raw, warmer lift underneath. Be sure to book your toner top-ups to keep that tone looking fresh at all times.
- Keep your head above water. When we go away it’s easy to get caught up in the fun and forget the most simple of things. Hey, we’re all human right! Jumping into chlorinated pools and sea salt water can be a nightmare for a blonde. Tie your hair up when you can and be aware how much you are dipping it into those waters.
